Random chat that is actually free
randomstrangers.chat pairs you with one random person at a time for a video, voice or text conversation. Every feature is free: there is no premium tier, no credits and no paid filters. Choosing who you would like to meet (by gender, country, language or shared interests) costs nothing, today or later.
How a chat starts
- Pick Video, Voice or Text at the top of the page.
- Optionally tell us who you would like to meet and add a few interests.
- Press Start. For voice and video your browser asks for the camera or microphone first; nothing is shared until you are matched.
When a conversation runs its course, press Next to meet someone new, or Stop to leave the queue. Both are always one tap away.
Matching that does not keep you waiting
Your choices are preferences, not walls. randomstrangers.chat looks for someone who fits all of them first. If nobody fits within a few seconds, it widens the search step by step (country and language first, then gender) so you are never left staring at a spinner. If you would rather wait for an exact fit, switch on Only match my filters.
Built for quick, light conversations
- Direct calls. Video and voice travel straight between the two browsers using WebRTC, encrypted with DTLS-SRTP. That keeps calls fast and keeps our servers small.
- Works in your browser. No app to install, on phones, tablets and computers.
- Text when you prefer it. No camera needed for text chat; voice keeps your camera off.
Safety, in plain words
randomstrangers.chat is for adults (18+). Report and Block end a conversation instantly; reports reach a human moderation queue. Calls are never recorded. Because calls connect directly between devices, the other person’s browser can see your public IP address, as with any direct call; the privacy notice explains what that means and what we keep.
Read the safety guide and the community guidelines before your first chat.
Your next conversation is one tap away.
